Artist: From First to Last
Album: We Were Bleeding Anyway (EP)
Label: Fearless Records
Score: 92%
Thoughts: We Were Bleeding Anyway is a true return to form for the band’s early career, which has spanned an impressive 20+ years. The first track and single, “They Said Your Ghost Was a Promise,” brings to mind their Aesthetic days, while the overall sound of the album is very familiarly grounded in early 2000s screamo scene that the band helped surge forward with Sonny Moore. Now fronted by Lil Lotus (alongside founding member, Matt Good), FFTL seem to have truly found their comfort zone after years of experimenting with more frantic sounding metalcore. We Were Bleeding Anyway is a love letter to the band’s earliest fans, so longtime listeners shouldn’t hesitate to play this as soon as possible.
Two Tracks OSM Would Make the Singles: “Your Name in Red Ink” (an all-around screamo hit) and “Picking Clothes to Die In” (reminiscent of Thrones to the Wolves era)
