Rating: R – You can expect body horror, gruesome bodily harm and gore, violence, nudity, a quick scene of drug usage, and coarse language
The Good: There are several really gross and intense sequences, accompanied by a relatively good cast (especially Tom Rhys Harries) and an excellent screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. It’s an entertaining ride throughout, and the climax gives a proper send-off for the character into the world of Batman (not that he’s mentioned in the movie, sorry). Clayface in his final transformation is horrific and satisfying, and easily one of my favorite moments of the movie. Watch out for that nose surgery, though (yikes!).
The Bad: The horror vibes are more mild than I was expecting. There is also practically no development of the bad guy or his crew. Sadly (but understandably), a lot of Clayface’s transitions are done off screen or in flickers, not that you can blame them for doing this, considering how many transitions there are and the cost it would add up over the course of the movie. But it reminded me of an 80s film at times—the tricks you’d pull for something bigger than what you can handle showing. However, when they do show them, they look excellent.
