Thoughts: Where do we start with a new Comeback Kid album? Always furious, fast, and firing on all cylinders at all times, this is a band that doesn’t seem capable of doing wrong. Their latest outing, Chosen Hell, spits fucking’ fire with tracks like “Vindication,” “Shedding Season,” and “Yesterday’s Gone” (featuring Brendan Garrone of Incendiary). More than 25 years in, and this band still impresses and fuels your bones. “We’ve always been a band that understands and embraces our identity, but it’s also important to us that we keep pushing our boundaries,” says Andrew Neufeld, the frontman of the band. “In the past, there may have been ideas we stifled because we thought they were outside the core of what Comeback Kid should be, but we felt comfortable exploring those things this time around.” While the differences are clear, the band has not sacrificed their longstanding identity one bit. Chosen Hell is an album that actually made me more and more excited with repeated spins, rather than tire.
Two Tracks OSM Would Make the Singles: “Vindication” (the get-up-and-hype hard-hitter) and “Lost and Found” (the anthemic attack)
